Apr 13, 2019 Just like the name implies, the built-in Voice Memos app lets you record any audio you want to save right to your iPhone. It could be a lecture at school, voice-over for a video, an interview for a project, or anything at all. If you want to record your song ideas, you want Apple's new Music Memos app. In this tutorial I show you how to record audio on your iphone using the Voice memo's app.It's not all that obvious where the app is so I show you how to fin. Make a recording in Voice Memos on iPhone With the Voice Memos app (located in the Utilities folder), you can use iPhone as a portable recording device to record personal notes, classroom lectures, musical ideas, and more. You can fine-tune your recordings with editing tools like trim, replace, and resume. Phone Usage in light of Notice 2011-72. It could hardly be easier: Tap on 'New Phone Memo', enter your name and the name of the caller. Use the sliders to design the message. There is also space for additional notes. Then tap the share button and select to whom and via which app you want to send the phone note.

List of all notes

This overview shows a list of all written notes. For each note, the title and the first line of the content (if available) are displayed. When running the application for the first time, only one note is listed here which contains a welcome message and a short user instruction for working with the Memo application.

If the list of notes doesn’t fit on the screen because too many notes are available, the list can be scrolled up and down with the finger. Each note can be tapped on with the finger, in this case it is shown in the details screen. For details, see section The details screen.

To exit the app, press the phone’s hardware back button.

The menu

The main menu contains two buttons and three commands:

The (+) button [new note] creates a new note and shows the details screen, allowing to fill it with text. For details, see section The details screen.

The (ABC)-button [sort] orders all notes alphabetically.

The command “settings” shows the settings screen. For details, see section The settings screen.

The command “about” shows the about screen which displays detailed information about the application and the author and offers the possibility of submitting a review to the Windows Phone Marketplace. For details, see section The about screen.

The command “help” load this web page in the phone’s web browser.

Ordering notes manually

When tapping on one note and keeping the finger on the screen for about one second, the ordering mode is activated. The selected note is highlighted while all other notes are shown in the background. The selected note can be moved up and down in the list through swiping the finger up and down on the screen. As soon as the notes’ ordering is as desired, the sorting mode can be deactivated by tapping on the OK-button that is located on the selected note’s right edge.

The details screen shows a specific note’s content in details. Usually, when loading the details screen the Details view is shown, however the details screen also contains the Edit view. Swipe the finger to the left or to the right to switch between Details and Edit view.

The Details view

The Details shows the current note’s title and content. If the note’s content is very long and doesn’t fit on the screen, it can be scrolled by swiping the finger up and down on the screen.

The Edit view

The Edit also shows the current note’s title and content, but in this case both can be changed. For this, a virtual keyboard is displayed when tapping on either one of the two text boxes designated for title and content.

When opening a new note in the details screen, it switches to the Edit view automatically, to allow instant declaration of title and content.

As long as title or content are not set to a specific value, the respective text boxes show the terms “(Title)” and “(Content)”. These hints disappear automatically, as soon as the text boxes are filled with text.

In addition to title and content, a color can be specified for each note. The default value for the color attribute is “accent color”, which corresponds to the currently selected Windows Phone theme color. A note’s color is used as background color in the list of all notes that is shown in the overview screen. In addition, when pinning a note to the Windows Phone start screen, this color is also used as background color of the tile that is created on the Windows Phone start screen.

All changes made in the Edit view are saved immediately! The changes can be viewed by switching to the Details view or by navigating back to the overview screen by tapping the [close] button in the menu or the phone’s hardware back button.

The menu

The menu contains four buttons and three commands:

The [close] button navigates back to the overview screen (or to the Windows Phone start screen, if the note has been opened through tapping on a tile). The phone’s hardware back button has the same functionality. For saving any changes made in the Edit view, it is not necessary to tap on this button, since all changes are saved immediately.

The [delete] button asks the user to confirm the deletion and then completely removes the currently selected note from the device.

The [pin] button creates a tile on the Windows Phone start screen that represents a direct link to the currently select note. This tile contains a Memo icon and the note’s title, or (if no title has been declared) the first line of the note’s content. It can be used to access the note’s details screen directly from the Windows Phone start screen, without opening the Memo application’s overview screen.

The [send] button shows a menu on the upper edge of the screen, for choosing which method to use for sending the currently selected note. It is possible to chosse between sending as e-mail and as text message.

The command “about” shows the about screen which displays detailed information about the application and the author and offers the possibility of submitting a review to the Windows Phone Marketplace. For details, see section The about screen.

The settings screen allows to change how the Memo application is displayed.

Here, the display language that is used for all captions of the Memo application’s user interface elements can be changed. Currently supported display languages are English and German.

In addition, the display of the notes count on the start screen can be turned on or off. If this feature is turned on, and if a tile for starting the Memo application is existent on the Windows Phone start screen, the number of currently available notes is displayed near the upper left corner of this tile.

The about screen contains information about the Memo application’s version and copyright as well as to the author. The hyperlink loads this web page in the phone’s browser. For submitting error reports, requests for additional functions, and other feedback to the author, use the hyperlink [email protected] which sends an e-mail directly from the phone.

The hyperlink Add Review to the Marketplace loads the Windows Phone Marketplace allows to submit an application review of the Memo application.

Make your recordings be heard.

Position markers.

Add markers to highlight noteworthy events in a recording. You can also use them to distinguish between different sections. Name or even associate a picture to markers, to better describe the content at the given position. Getting back to a specific point in a recording is then blazing fast.
