Remove/Initialize When the issue is related to only one app, it can often be fixed by unistalling then re-installing the app. Use this tab for step-by-step instructions. The problem is digital audio over HDMI and the way Bose has set up their receiver. HDMI 'handshakes' between devices (coax and optical digital audio do not) and the Bose seems to take a while to detect the audio and looses it if there is no sound for a while Contact Bose and see if they have an answer. Hi there. I got a new Snowball Blue Microphone for Christmas. I wanted to test it out today, and the first thing I went to try it on was OBS. I tried to do a local recording, rather then live streaming the test, and the first thing that popped up when I tried to local record was an error message reading, 'An error occured initializing microphone audio - it may not be not plugged in, or another application could be using it in exclusive mode.' After doing a little bit of searching, I found the thread on the forums here, guiding me to control panel -> Sound -> Selecting the microphone and going to properties, and unchecking 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.' I know that I'm doing it to the proper devices, as it is the only enabled microphone on my computer right now, and it works perfectly in an VOIP application I've tried. Thanks for the help!
EDIT: Ok, I just figured out the problem: I went to settings in OBS, and went to audio, and under 'Microphone/Auxilary Audio Device', nothing was selected. I selected 'Microphone (BlueSnowball)', and it started right up as normal. Hopefully someone can find this post and get some use out of it!
